WHO

There are MANY wonderful, dedicated people involved in helping me launch BlueRun, from friends, investors, to a bevy of counsel-givers, to volunteers...and even a few of you naysayers. Look for all of them on future credit rolls. As for staff, we're small...but that's soon to change.

David Marlett Writer/Producer/Director

David is a writer and stage/film director currently pre-producing and preparing to direct his feature film Riding Home, and actively developing his second, Russian Warmblood, as well as Of Kings & Cowboys and others.

He's a photo-artist for over 20 years, and has shown his work across the country. Click below for samples of his photoart series, Life in Passing coming to an LA gallery mid-2010. Through this boyish fascination and experience with light and film and camerawork, he brings a strong eye for the technical aspects of fiilmmaking. Click here for sample photoart.

He has written a novel and many screenplays. (For more info on his novel, Fortunate Son, go to the Miniseries tab.) Most of his early screenplays were optioned or sold, but not produced. These included The Hindenburg commissioned by a major producer.) That lack of control over the fate of his work led him to create BlueRun Productions in 2007. Due to his background, and the uniqueness of the projects, BlueRun is off to a strong start.

Marlett started acting in local theater at the age of seven and continued acting and directing for the stage for 30 years thereafter. Through his stage experience and training, he has a strong affinity for the craft and processes of acting and the life of an actor.

He is also a non-practicing ("recovering") attorney and CPA, with 20+ years experience consulting, financing and managing a wide assortment of companies in industries spanning from healthcare to energy to entertainment. He holds degrees in Accounting, Economics and Finance from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas. He lives in the Los Angeles and Dallas areas where he stick-n-balls polo when he can, and tries to wrangle his four kids.

During 2009, David wrote a recurring column called "Marlett & Me" in the world's leading filmmaker magazine, MovieMaker. The column focused on the real-world ups and downs of financing and producing indie films.
